Life from inside the house!

The last time I blogged I was talking about being a bit sick and being off training. Since then I got even worse. My chest infection got quite bad and I needed to go back to see the doctor and get put on more medication. Thankfully now I'm starting to turn the corner and hopefully I get to go back to a little training tomorrow. Being sick has meant that I have not really been out of the house for 5 days. I can see how that might sound like a nice little break but honestly I'm suffering from major cabin fever. It's one thing staying in because you are not bothered going out but it is quite another staying in because you are feeling so sick that going out is not an option.

So from my time being house bound these are the things that I have achieved.

-I did a full grocery shop online and had it delivered, I went with Tesco.com and it was very handy. I've never done this before and I'm totally converted.
-I bought a fan oven which I know sounds random but the oven broke two weeks ago and I've needed to get around to this but have been too busy with training.
- I have been cooking lots of big meals and then freezing them for during the week. Things such as curried sweet potato with coconut & lentil soup, beef tagine, spaghetti bolognaise and basil pesto.
-I have done loads of paper work that I normally like to ignore.
-I have watched every episode of the current Grey's anatomy.
-I have watched the last two twilight films.

Now blog readers you are all caught up with me. I realise that this blog is super boring but accept my apologies and the fact that I have been cut off from the real world for a while!

Bye bye from inside the house,

DOR XOX

  1. For someone so sick you got loads done! I wouldn't get half that done when I'm not sick!!

Just wondering where you got the recipe for the curried sweet potato with coconut & lentil soup, sounds delish. Would love to give it a try...

  2. I kinda just made up the recipe and googled a little bit to make sure that I couldn't go too wrong. Here it is roughly, play around with the quantities if you like:

    - cook 1-2 onions on medium heat until soft (use olive oil or butter)
when soft add in two chopped garlic cloves and cook for 2-3 mins on medium heat
-Add in two sweet potato's that you have cut up into little pieces
-Add 2 teaspoons of medium curry powder
-Leave this to cook in the powder on a low heat for about ten minutes.
-Add in a pint of hot vegetable (or chicken if you like) stock
Leave all of this to simmer for an hour.
-After an hour add in 1/2 tin of light coconut milk.
-Blend the mixture and then add mixed lentils (these need to be soaked the night before in water)

Mine was tasty and pretty healthy so hope it works out nice if you make it. Let me know!
    ;)

  3. Apologies for the delay in thanking you for the recipe! Made the soup earlier in the week and it was DELSIH!! Brought it for lunch every day since (I made double your amount) and raved to everyone of your culinary prowess!

Am also a fan of your tuna wrap-pizzas that you blogged about before - in fact it's thanks to those wraps that my husband started eating tuna!! Maybe you should start a food blog as well?!!!

Anyhow, glad to hear you're feeling better and back "enjoying" training..
