Yesterday I held a hurdles workshop in DCU sports facility. Rob Heffernan put the idea in my head and after chatting to Jeremy Lyons (a coach who also runs a group called Irish hurdlers) we decided to organise it between us. The idea was to make it free so it was accessible and if people want to come and listen to what myself and some of the people I work with have to say then great. I was a little overwhelmed with the numbers who decided to come. We were just under the capacity for the facility and all we really did was tweet about it (the power of social media!!!). The day went great. One of my coaches Terrie did an amazing presentation followed by some drills. I spoke for a little while about my career so far and how I go about things. Then Martina McCarthy did a great presentation on strength and conditioning, she was so thorough and informed. I hope everyone enjoyed it and got something from it.
In training news I had a recovery week this week. I've been having some pain in my achilles and decided it was best to get it looked at this week. There was some inflammation behind my tendon and the doc decided that I needed to get some water injected into the area. I'm kinda pathetic at dealing with needles so Deirdre Ryan came with me for moral support and made it a whole lot easier. Thanks Dee!! Now I have to train in the pool for a few days to let the injection work.
Our foster puppy Chloe is doing really well. All she really wants is to play or cuddle. Our dog Berlino has been having a great time with her.
